Pefkochori, also known as Kapsochora, was probably founded in the late 16th century. In the northwestern part of the harbor, where boats are now moored, ruins from a Roman settlement have been found. Today only one half-destroyed windmill survives.

Pefkochori is about 105 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki and its name testifies to the landscape that one will see. A pine forest encircles the village and the beautiful sandy beach inside the settlement make it one of the small paradises of Halkidiki.
During the summer months it serves tens of thousands of tourists and is one of the most cosmopolitan destinations.
