Ierissos, also known as ancient Akanthos, is located at the beginning of the Athos peninsula and is the seat of the Municipality of Aristotle. It is a beautiful and modern structured coastal town, one of the largest in Halkidiki.

One of its most important attractions is the tower of Krouna which is 12 meters high. The tower is located about 1 km northwest of the town and you can only see it from the outside. Also, in the center of Ierissos, in an impressive building, the Cultural Center is housed and functions as a means of highlighting the Mount Athos heritage.

Ierissos is not only a place of reaching to Mount Athos but also a developed tourist center that promises unforgettable holidays.

It has rooms for rent and apartments that will fully meet the needs of the visitor for accommodation. For outdoor enthusiasts there are two fully organized campings.

In its picturesque taverns you will enjoy local specialties and the hospitality of the local people. Beach bar and cafe are spread all over the coastal pedestrian street, touching the shores.

Ierissos is famous for its vast beach with its crystal clear sandy beach. A beach that stretches as far as the eye can see and its sandy beaches are awarded a blue flag.

From a place with such a rich heritage, customs could not be missing. On June 29, the festival takes place in the chapel of St. Paul and on July 20, the Prophet Elias.
